1949 – 2018

George Washington Bishop, 69, of Boonville, MO passed away April 4, 2018 at Cooper County Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Bishop was born in Fayette, MO on February 22, 1949 a son of the late Raymond and Cora Edna Dodson Bishop.  He married Karen Young on February 15, 1969 at Sulphur Springs Church near New Franklin.  George was employed for over 30 years with Toastmaster in Boonville.  He enjoyed watching football, baseball, playing golf, hunting and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Bishop of Boonville; daughter, Rebecca Bishop of Boonville; five brothers, Robert (Nancy) Bishop, Bill Bishop, Ronnie (Angela) Bishop, Randy Bishop and Raymond (Jane) Bishop; three sisters, Kathy (Jim) Warmbrodt, Bonnie (Bill) Gardner and Sharon Weber; two sisters-in-law, Norma Bishop and Phyllis Sheridan and several nieces, nephews and other family members.  Also surviving are two honorary daughters and five honorary grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, John Bishop, Carl “Buck” Bishop and James Bishop.

Services honoring his life will be held at 2 PM, Monday, April 9, 2018 at Markland-Yager Funeral Home in New Franklin with Rev. Gary Humphrey officiating.  Visitation will be from noon until time of service at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders or Sulphur Springs Church Cemetery.
