Warren “Bud” Smith

1940 – 2017

Warren “Bud” Smith, 76, of Boonville, died December 23, 2017 at Boone Hospital Center following a short battle with cancer.

He was born December 26, 1940 in New Franklin, MO to Warren and Mildred McQuitty Smith.  On August 24, 1963, he married Cheryl Linyard in Los Angeles, CA.  Bud served his nation in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War.  He was employed in the Aero-Space Industry as an inspector and manager.  He enjoyed drag racing, building dragsters, restoring classic cars and was a ham radio operator for over 60 years.  Upon retirement in 2001, Bud and Cheryl moved to Boonville from southern California.

In addition to his wife, Cheryl, Bud is survived by a son, Tim Smith of Wildomar, CA; a daughter, Robin Rooney of Boonville; a sister, Shirley James of New Franklin; six grandchildren, Zachary, Alexx, Sarah, Holly, McKenna and Parker and by a great-grandchild, Kendal.

A Memorial Visitation honoring Bud’s life will be held at Markland-Yager Funeral Home, 3855 Hwy. 5 North, New Franklin, MO, from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, January 10, 2018.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Cancer Research Center, 3501 Berrywood Dr. #2, Columbia, MO 65201.
