Colleen Ann Sheets, 75, of Columbia passed away on June 8, 2019 at home surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Grandview Baptist Church. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until start of the service. Burial will follow at Grandview Baptist Church Cemetery.
Colleen was born on November 9, 1943 in Hatfield, Missouri to Cole and Clara Benson Murrin. On September 3, 1966, she married William Sheets in Grant City, Missouri. She was a faithful member of Grandview Baptist Church where she served as Church Secretary and taught Sunday School and was an Awana Leader. After getting her nursing degree, in 1966 she became Head Nurse on the fourth floor at University Hospital. In 1976 she partnered to start Midwest Diabetes and Treatment Center and in 1993 went back to the University Hospital to become the Clinic Supervisor in the Cosmopolitan Diabetes Clinic. She was the first Diabetes Educator at the University, retiring in 2011. Colleen was also a founding member and board member of Camp Hickory Hill.
Colleen is survived by her husband, William Sheets of Columbia; two children, Darron Sheets (Jill) and grandchild, Heather, and Cyndi Hyde (Jerry) and grandchildren, Miriam and Joshua, all of Columbia; brother, Arthur Murrin (Colleen) of Ft. Scott, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
