Gerald V. Sell
1922 – 2018
Gerald Vivian Sell, 96, of Boonville, Missouri passed away July 1, 2018 at the Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Gerald was born in Ava, Missouri on April 7, 1922 a son of Kenneth A. and Maggie Dell Boon Sell. He married Mescal Algenia Frazier on September 8, 1950 in St. Charles, Missouri. They would be observing their 68th wedding anniversary this fall.
Mr. Sell was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving his nation during World War II. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Boonville Church of Christ. He was honored to participate in a Missouri Honor Flight on September 3, 2014 and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Mescal Sell of Boonville; a son, Gerald Vaughn Sell (Carolyn) of Boonville; three daughters, Jerri Sell-McNair (Floyd) of Sun City West, Arizona, Susan M. Roberts (Tony) of Columbia and Donna R. Sell of the state of California and a sister, Beverley Fleenor of Mattoon, Illinois. Also cherishing his memory are twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steven L. Sell and Daniel L. Sell; five brothers, Cecil, Otto, Virgil, Rug and Nelson Sell and by four sisters, Neva Hamilton, Genia Moore, Iva Erickson and Marjorie Smith.
Services honoring Gerald’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Boonville Church of Christ, 16511 Logan’s Lake Road, Boonville, Missouri. Visitation will be Friday evening from 7 to 9 pm at Markland-Yager Funeral Home, 3855 Hwy. 5, New Franklin, Missouri.
On Saturday afternoon, Mr. Sell will be escorted to his place of rest at Lower Muddy Cemetery in Lerna, Illinois by the Mid/MO & NEMO Patriot Guard Riders where he will be interred with full military honors.
