Leland C. Madvig, 83, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2018.
A gathering of family and friends to celebrate Leland’s life will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at Harley’s Reception Hall, 2243 Grand Ave, Galesburg, Illinois with inurnment taking place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 29, 2018 at Lutheran Cemetery in Peoria, Illinois.
Leland was born December 4, 1934, in Galesburg, Illinois to Donald and Lillian Summers Madvig. He began his career in 1952 as an apprentice machinist for Caterpillar Tractor Co. and retired as Manufacturing Manager in Decatur, Illinois in 1997. He is in the Galesburg and Peoria Halls of Fame for his athletic achievements.
Leland is survived by his daughter, Linda Brooks and husband, Carl, and their two children, Nicholas and Nicole all of Columbia and two brothers and their families, Wayne (Sandy) and Fred (Alice) Madvig of Galesburg, Illinois; a step-daughter, Kristy Flairty of East Peoria and her two children, Brett Burmeister and Lauren Morgan; three nieces, Robin (Dave) West of Galesburg, Christina (David) Beams of Riverton, Illinois, Ann (Todd) Shumaker of Galesburg, Illinois; two nephews, Chuck (Peggy) Madvig of Arizona and Donnie (Carolyn) Madvig of Indiana as well as numerous great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of over 40 years, Karen, on Jan. 12, 2013.
