Arlene R. Bell, 89, passed away on November 16, 2021, while living in Columbia, Missouri after battling dementia for 4 about years.
She was born on August 11, 1932, to Charles and Minnie (Wade) Richardson in Lincoln, Nebraska. Arlene married Norman Bell, Jr. in 1952 and they were married almost 60 years before his passing in 2012.
Arlene graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. She spent most of her working life as a proof operator at several banks in Lincoln including1st National Bank, Gateway, Citizen’s State Bank, Vistar and Union Bank and Trust for many years before retiring in 2010. Missing her friends from work, she then went back to work part-time in the mailroom at Union Bank for about 1 year.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her baby brother, Robert Dean, her husband, her oldest grandson, Jeffrey Alan and her sister Alice Langdon.
Arlene is survived by her children: Barbara (Colin) Smialek of Columbia, MO; Jeanine Budig (Greg)and Michael Bell of Lincoln, NE; her grandchildren: Emily (Andy) Cather of Omaha, NE; Jacob Budig of Lincoln, NE; her great-grandchildren: Keenan Thomas Budig, Emeryse Kay Sue and Anias Jeffrey Cather, Omaha, NE, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on December 2, 2021 at Higher Ground Church, 2900 Barberry Ave., Columbia, MO 65202 from 1 to 2 pm, with the memorial service from 2 to 3 pm. There will also be a reception on December 4th at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home,6800 S. 14th St, Lincoln, NE from 1 to 4 pm.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the local Alzheimer’s Foundation or to the family.
