Raymond Lee Stubbs, 83, a resident of Columbia, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 17, 2023, at his home.
Raymond was born on November 18, 1939, in Pitts, Georgia, the son of George Stubbs and Celya Fitzgerald Stubbs. He married Arletta Reed on July 4, 1975, in Fellsmere, Florida. The marriage was sealed in the LDS OgdenTemple on June 22, 1977.
Ray loved flying, even building his own airplane and traveling throughout the US. Ray enjoyed fishing, and these passions would take him on adventures and fishing trips to Alaska. He was also an accomplished woodworker. He cherished time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Arletta, of Columbia and their three children. Jeff Stubbs (Jub) of Atlanta, Georgia, Brad Stubbs (Don) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Traci McCall (Shannon) of Boonville, three grandchildren, Lyndsey McBee, Cole Moore (Taylor), and Olivia Bopp (Matthew), all of Columbia, seven precious great-grandchildren, Victoria, Ella, Triston, Maylee, Kaiden, Carter, Lawson and two baby girls on the way; one sister, Evelyn Graham of Sebastian, Florida.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings, Dorsey Stubbs, J.S. Stubbs, Doyle Stubbs, Estoria Moss, Elloween Myers, and George Stubbs.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday April 21, 2023, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 904 Old 63 South, Columbia, MO 65201. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2023, at the church, with a viewing, one hour prior. Following services, Ray will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery.
