Sammie Francis Blakely

Sammie Francis Blakely, of Fayette and formerly of Columbia and St. Louis, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Fayette Caring Center.  He was 90 years old.

Sammie was born on July 27, 1930 a son of Sam and Myrle Richardson Blakely.  Prior to retirement, he was employed as a supervisor with Chase Bag/International Paper Company in St. Louis.  He enjoyed following car racing, animals and driving his prized Cadillac.  Most of all he loved and was loved by his family.

Survivors include his brother, Kenneth Blakely and wife, Bonnie of Fayette and two nieces, Sheri Eaton and Lori Strodtman both of Fayette and their families and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services honoring Sammie’s life will be held at 2 PM, Monday, January 18, 2021 at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Stephen Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Fayette.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Walnut Ridge Cemetery.
