William Mason Obituary

William David Mason, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather of Independence Missouri, passed away peacefully May 20,2021 at Monterey Park Rehabilitation Care Center. William was preceed in death by his parent Bernice and Arnold Mason, and his younger brother Sam Mason.

William, or Bill, was born March 1, 1935 on a farm in Fayette, Missouri to Bernice McKinzie Mason and Arnold Mason.

Bill was a graduate of Fayette High School. After graduation he moved to Kansas City. He earned and graduated with a degree from the United States Trade School in Kansas City.

William served 5 years in the armed forces.

His career was working for Hallmark Card Company for 53 years.

On December 23, 1956 he married Shirley Jean Potter.

William was an avid gardener, a good mechanic, a true follower of sports. He enjoyed the Kansas City Chiefs and the Kansas City Royals. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, and camping trips with his family. He basically loved the outdoors.

William is survived by his wife of 64 years Shirley and 3 wonderful sons, Keith, Gary, and Kevin and their families.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Carr-Yager Funeral Home in Fayette with Rev. Jamie Page officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.  Family interment will be held at a later date at Mt. Pleasant Christian Church Cemetery near Higbee.
